MICHAEL MATTAS

“I am thrilled to begin the journey of professional golf and chase the dream I’ve held since I was very young.”

Michael grew up in Streamwood, IL. When he was 12 years old, his family joined Elgin Country Club, and his love for the game began to blossom.

Michael tasted success as the 2015 IL High School State Champion while attending St. Edward Central Catholic High School in Elgin, IL. He went on to compete in a successful amateur career, including five years at the highest level of Division I college golf at Northern Illinois University.

While attending NIU, Michael served three years as a Team Captain, and achieved several awards including the Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar Award, MAC Presidential Award, MAC Athlete of the Week, Jack Pheanis Award, and Academic All-MAC honors. In May of 2021, he graduated from NIU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, a Certificate in Professional Sales, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

“My time at NIU was quite a journey. It was five years filled with many ups, downs, and lessons that have shaped me as a man on and off the golf course. I left with a wealth of experience and knowledge about the game of golf that will enable me to succeed in reaching my goals.”

Michael learned to prepare for championship golf courses all around the country, to travel week after week, manage his time, create good habits and routines, and take care of his body and mind.

“I feel very prepared, and excited to enter the next chapter of my career.

As I take on professional golf, my goals are to put myself in the best position to win tournaments, compete against the strongest competition, and grow to my fullest potential mentally and physically.”

Earning a card and winning on the PGA TOUR would check all of those boxes and is certainly his greatest motivator.
